This place is mediocre, average, nothing special...AKA 3 stars. It's really inconsistent. I always get the same 2 things - orange chicken or honey chicken - and I never know how it's going to taste. It's usually decent, but it's gotten worse over time. I probably won't go back because it's just too inconsistent. Shame, because most other Pick Up Stix are pretty good...or at least consistent.

Good wontons...go on wonton Wednesday for a good deal. Fast and yummy. Call ahead your order for takeout for faster pickup. Join the Dragon Club for great deals and perks!!!

Decent food. The food is freshly made and tastes good. This is a chain place and overall it meets the quality standard. The orange chicken was a bit too spicy for the kids. The new bourbon grilled chicken was A+. Took way too long to get food.

Yummy Americanized Chinese food. Yes, most items aren't authentic and won't be the same spice intensity as a real Chinese place, but you know that going in. It's called Pick Up Stix for gosh sakes, so you can't really fault it for not being authentic. Anyway, I absolutely love this place, and always visit when I'm back home. For lunch, you can't beat the meal deal for value. I never waver from my House Special Chicken, brown rice, and cream cheese wonton order. I usually skip the veggies in the HSC because it's pretty much just sliced carrots and you get less chicken when they add the veggies, I think. The honey crispy chicken is good, but not as savory/flavorful as the house special chicken. The noodles are always well prepared, as are the other appetizers and soups. I've never had a bad meal here. Service has always been pretty quick (they do cook everything fresh, so you are going to have to wait 10 minutes, but I prefer to wait than to have them quickly reheat something), and I like that you get to order at the counter but then sit and wait.

wow.. San Diego was humid and 83 degrees outside and this location was 85 degrees inside.. We took food order togo. Management might want to to talk to corporate about local access to temperature gauge.. not all areas need 80 degrees inside their location. food was delicious like always and fresh.

I've tried this location 5 times now. Each time I attempt to order their bourbon chicken I'm told it will be 20+ minutes to cook. This last time, however, was the final straw. After sitting and waiting for 30 minutes, I walked up to the counter to inquire about our food. I saw that they had barely just begun to grill the chicken. It wasn't even busy. I won't be going back; this location is shameful!

Excellent customer service. Everyone is so welcoming and kind, they deserve to be paid more, hahaha. The food is great too.

I visited for the first time the other day, and everything positive about our experience was canceled out by something negative. The girl who brought out our food was a delight, but the guy who took our order was a complete jerk who seemed bored and unhappy that he was stuck at work. The food (garlic shrimp and chicken chow mein) was tasty and the portions were very generous, but it took way too long to cook. I understand that this isn't an authentic Chinese restaurant, but if you're going to sacrifice the real-ness in favor of a more Americanized fast food model, at least be fast about it.

When I go to San Diego it is a must that I eat at Pick Up Stix. I am used to Panda at home and the local Chinese restaurants, but something about this place brings me back. I really like the Crispy Honey Chicken. It is always has a hint of sweet and crunch, very different from Panda's Orange Chicken. My family and I ordered the family platter and it was just enough food. Usually you get too little or too much. The portions were perfect and tasted wonderful. My little sister who likes NOTHING ate the noodles and loved them.

What is the beef they use, is it for humans because the texture was so bad and stringy I was chewing it like gum it wouldn't break down like "real beef" I had to spit it out and throw it out after trying 3 pieces. LoMein mainly big pieces of onions I even asked no onions, threw that out.

Really poor service. The manger is extremely rude, and the staff is doing a good job of following in his footsteps. Also, the bourbon chicken must require some type of holy chicken, because almost everyone we come in, no mater what day or time, we are told they don't have the chicken ready and it will take 20 minutes. Sometimes they'll have enough for one, but that's it. I don't get why you wouldn't have more of that chicken prepared when I'm constantly hearing people ask for it. This Pick Up Stixs is obviously lacking in the management department.

I got stir fry with vegetables - Pretty much tastes like cardboard that's been deep-fried in oil and covered in sauce to mask the non-existent flavor. Vegetables were super bland and dehydrated. Just forced myself to eat half of it I wouldn't be throwing away my money as well as my food. Don't know what i was expecting though. 2 stars for effort.

As far as fast food goes, this is great. this location in particular - amazing customer service. The manager really took care of me and went out of his way to make sure I had a good experience. Highly recommend. Go down the Orange tofu and Kung Pao shrimp route, you'll be happy. And I always ask them to throw in some extra veggies and they never skimp on it. Fresh, and there is always enough left over for lunch tomorrow.

whaaaaat pick up sticks is so radical, and i love it. The food is made fresh and tastes like heaven. it is a chain restaurant but a good one. If you dig on cream cheese wontons go here on Wednesday they are only a cool quarter. so hope to see you at the sticks.

Just left and it is now 5:00pm on March 5th. Had the most amazing house beef ever!!! The lady who took me and my buddies order was super cool! Another blonde lady came and gave us bags for our meals without us even asking. Felt like restaurant service! I really wanted to leave a tip, and feel cheap not doing it now. Hopefully this post helps out. Shout out to the cooks too!!!

A favorite place of mine. It is not an amazing restaurant by any means but the food is good and the environment is fun. It is like a classier version of Panda Express for some Chinese fast food. The staff has always been very friendly and welcoming every time I visit. They have some healthier options such as brown rice and veggie meals but fried rice is where the action is! Try their new yogurt deserts also, they're pretty good.

I was desperate! I was running on fumes, gave up and went into try this place. It's probably one of the worst meals I've ever had! I wasn't expecting much but for fast food Asian, but this is at the bottom of the barrel. Everything was poor right down to the fortune cookie. When I can't handle the amount of salt in a meal, it's a problem. Plus it was a tiny meal for almost $9!

Its amazing how successful this place is at serving Chinese food to non Chinese people. I have to give them props though. They've been around and they're still doing their thing. Ive actually been a customer ever since college but I use that term very loosely . Coming here once a year probably doesnt get me into their fan club or anything like that They give you a fortune cookie with your meal. That, my dear friends is the mark of a true Chinese eatery. 2 stars because Id rather come here than a del taco or a panda express.

25 cent Cream Cheese Wanton Wednesday is all I have to say. The food took a little while to come out but it went by fairly quickly with the right company. I got a $4.99 Dragon Meal and there was quite a bit of food. It came with a salad, rice, and the main entree. On top of that I got 8 wantons for $2.

so Ronnie S goes to me "Baby, tonight I'm takin you out. Imma treat you real nice and get you anything you like.. then after..we're gonna go to ikea." I was like "Damn you know how to make a date night, take me to pick up sticks." He said "only if we get the cream cheese wantons" Pick Up Stix is great! The food is cooked right when you order it, it comes to you piping hot and tasting fresh. I recommend the spicy basil noodles and the cream cheese wantons. Ronnie loves this place and he made a lover out of me too.

no meat-extra asparagus- light onions- no garlic-don't cook the veggies too much-a little spicy but not too much (like a 5/10????)... this is pretty much what my order typically sounds like. And for basically a fresher Panda Express type of fast food asian place, they do a pretty good job accommodating and making everything to my liking...AND..with a smile :) I typically order the Chow Mien with vegetables and a little spice cooked in. The cream cheese wontons are pretty great as is the salad they have (something like a chinese chicken salad). Beware: The Pad Thai is super sweet, but pretty good :)

The mongolian beef was tasty--even though it was very sweet--and I liked the green onions and white onions in the stir fry. The bourbon chicken was like a grilled chicken with terriyaki sauce. I had a choice of brown or white rice. Service was slow--not very busy but it took a while for my food to be ready. The food came in "to go containers" as well as paper plates and utensils.

This is a busy little parking lot, lemme tell you. It was either El Pollo Loco or Pick Up Stix. Since I was eating Chinese the whole week, I decided to keep with the theme. The folks there are really friendly and didn't mind answering the numerous amount of questions I had. I had never been to (or heard) of a Pick Up Stix, so I had to find out what it was about. Almost everything looked good on the menu, but I was definitely in the mood for something I wouldn't normally get at a Chinese restaurant. I ordered the Thai coconut chicken curry with fried rice and six cream cheese wontons. The rice was really good and I found myself eating it all before even touching my curry. While the portion was super small, the curry had a lovely orange colour and the flavour was nice. Lots of lemongrass makes Urs a happy girl. ^_^ The rice did a good job of filling me up, so I didn't mind that the curry was lacking in size too much. I treated the wontons like dessert and gobbled them up. They weren't amazing and I didn't think they were worth the price, but they were okay. Would I visit again? Yes. I signed up for their little rewards program and received a coupon for free cream cheese wontons. Oh joy. lol

Positive: once the food came out, it was great. Great lunch combo value. Negatives: They clearly need to turn up their A/C. Patrons including myself were sweating. It wasn't that busy but I sat waiting for my food for over 20 minutes. Went back up and asked the cashier girl how long it would be. She said she didn't know and asked my name. I don't think she even took it, but I told her. Then she needed my # they gave me and said let me check. 3-4 minutes later a different woman brought out the food and set it down in front of me and said "Enjoy." She set it down so quickly the lid for the soy sauce container popped off and leaked on my napkins. She was gone before I could even ask for another. She could def use some customer service training. It looked like they were doing some large catering order, which is apparently more important than people in the restaurant.

Excellent prompt service with a good selection of Chinese dishes that are delicious. We shared vegetable egg rolls, a "crispy chicken" entree with brown rice and the house fried rice. We received our take-out order after a brief wait. It included plates, utensils, sweet-sour dipping sauce and two fortune cookies. One read "A short stranger will soon enter your life with blessings to share" which sounds too much like Twin Peaks for comfort. The second read "Someone is looking up to you. Don't let that person down." Short strangers look up to people so maybe it is the corollary to the first fortune cookie. Regardless, we enjoyed our take home lunch and easily have enough left-overs for a second meal. Total cost: $19.98. I am a fan of this place, right up there with Rubio's. You will not be disappointed.

There is a reason there's nobody eating inside. Oh and it's true what one yelper said about the bathroom. I peered in and the floor looked like it hasn't been cleaned in a year, for reals. I got my money back. There are just no words. Eww.

Tonight was the first time we have ever been to Pick Up Stix. I had been wanting to try this place because I have been craving Chinese food and there really aren't any good places in Mission Valley. This came close to Panda Express. I went through the photos on there website here on Yelp and I thought the food looked pretty good. So tonight we decided it was the right night. We walked in and there wasn't a whole lot of people in here. Just a couple. For being dinner hour we thought that was strange. I ordered the house special. I had the caramelized chicken and fried rice. The chicken had a really mild flavor of caramelization. I couldn't taste the flavor very well because the chicken wasn't crisp. It kind of had a spongy feel to it like when you touched it it would bounce back. We also ordered the chicken egg rolls and I really didn't care for them. They forgot our cream cheese wontons so we never got a taste of them. We had to go back because they over charged us and the bill didn't have the cream cheese wontons on it. We ended up getting our money back for our meals because we just didn't care for it. We waited for over 15 minutes while I sipped on a soda and my mom sipped on some water. I don't think we'll be going back. Just not our type of place and unpleasant customer service. We won't be back!

This place feels a lot like Panda except it's lighter. The sauces feel a lot lighter which makes the meal feel significantly less fattening. My dad and I came here and ordered the Mongolian beef, honey chicken, and sweet & sour chicken. The honey and sweet & sour tasted very similar to each other and honestly very similar to many other places we've ordered these items. They were good, not great. The Mongolian beef, however, was probably the best we've ever had. It was wonderful. Definitely recommend ordering it if you come here. The onions served with it were perfect and made a great accent to an already great dish. We'd come back here just for this beef and to try some other options.

I DONT OFTEN WRITE REVIEWS BUT SANDY WAA VERY HELPFUL! They have great customer service! The cahier Susie was very friendly and helpful when I asked for suggestions. I have only been to this place once or twice many uears back. I ordered shrimp with vegetables for my grandmother and Sandi brought us our food and a little later comes and asked how were doing. My grandmother is in her 90s and I told that the vegetables were to hard for her to chew and right away she tells me to not worry she willl solve the problem she comes back with a new batch and vegetables super soft that my grandmother was very happy waa able to enjoy her food much better and still came back and checked if my grandmother waa enjoying her food. Thanks to her I am happy customer and defenitaly coming back! Thank you Sandi my grandmother enjoyed her food!!

I recently tried this place out because the company I work for provided catering from this place for lunch. I helped pick up the food. We ordered from the catering menu for the $144 one that would feed around 12-15 people. They also gave military discount so it bumped it down a bit too. It comes with a lot of food: White and Brown Rice Salad Cream Cheese Wontons Eggrolls Orange Chicken Kung Pao Chicken Noodles It was a good amount of food for us. There was plenty to go around. The food was ok. It wasn't the greatest but it was good. Nothing that stood out to me that would make me crave this place over other Chinese food places. It was definitely nice that my company I work for paid for this! It was good for catering since it was in trays and close by to where I work. I would've gone with other Chinese food places but was still good.

Usually love this place, as the food is fresh, hot and consistently decent. The staff is usually awesome! Unfortunately my review today is lower than usual, as the food wasn't prepared to its usual standard at all. Te fried rice is soggy and the Mongolian beef cut poorly and also cooked wrong. The wok and oil must be sufficiently joy to make good Chinese food without a soggy texture. For the first time, today was a total fail. An when we bought enough for Xmas, too. :/ bummed about the food. But the staff was awesome as always. :) Happy holidays! Xx Ps. Would really love our 65 bucks credited. Sigh.

Absolutely unacceptable customer service.... So I've only been to this location twice and this was the last time. My friend and I order two chicken entrees, dine in. Our receipt was time stamped at 8:12. 30 mins later we couldn't help but notice people who were in line before us had already finished their meal and left. Its not like they were even busy. Finally after a family of 6 who had ordered 15 mins after us and received their large meal and left, my friend and I requested a refund of our money so we could go. "Oh your foods ready now!". Sorry, we have places to be and would rather spend our money elsewhere. We got our money back, minus the bottle of water I had opened and taken a few sips out of. Would not recommend based on the poor service alone.

ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE!!!!! THE MANAGER SHOULD BE FIRED!!! Totally out of touch Manager and workers. I don't know where to start. How does somebody who ordered after you get their food and begin eating. Hell, they were done with their meal half way into it, before I started asking questions. And there was a lady waiting for her to-go meal that had ordered before ME! How is this allowed to happen in your establishment PICK UP STIX without any of your staff noticing? Your Manager was out to lunch, totally inept at running a Wal-Mart! And the excuses I received were as boring and unemotional yet equally caring as a manufactured ROBOT. You're employees don't care about being there, cooking the food, or caring for the customer! I WILL NEVER, EVER, WASTE MY HARD EARNED MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. THIS PLACE SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS PERIOD! BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!

I ordered online for pick up from this location. The only thing I didn't care for about that was there wasn't much information as far as the size of the meals. I ended up calling to ask about portions for the family meal. That said the food was delicious. The cream cheese wontons had just enough crunch to them and great flavor. The dumplings as well as the dipping sauce were also very good. We also ordered the crispy honey chicken and bourbon chicken. The flavor for both items was spot on. The fried rice was your average fried rice, but I like the amount of vegetables they included. Although I would've liked slightly larger portions of the chicken dishes, I will order from them again.

I stopped by the Stick's to pick up so dinner to go. When I arrived I noticed they had a couple of new Thai items. So I decided to try one of them, and I settled for the Red Thai Chicken with Vegetables, and my favorite from this place, Crispy Honey chicken, both with brown rice. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pick… ) Yippee... The crispy honey chicken was a keeper as usual. It had a vibrant sweet sauce and crunchy exterior. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pick… ) The chicken was all white and tender for the most part inside. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pick… ) The new Red Thai Chicken and Vegetables was not bad for being made at a Chinese fast food place. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pick… ) The chicken and vegetables were cooked very well and tender. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pick… ) The sauce was descent, but it needed a little more aggressive flavors for a Thai item. The flavor was very mild, but it is not to say it was not nice to eat. The brown rice was good. It was a little sticky but not by much. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pick… ) The service at this location was friendly and the wait for my food was not long. I am settling for solid 3.5 stars. I was considering 4 stars but the lack of seasoning and flavor of they Red Thai dish, pulled me back a .5 point. Crispy Honey Chicken is muy bueno.....

The food was okay. I feel like it was better at other pick up stix locations. The ladies ringing us up look annoyed to take our order. But I give this place one star mainly for their cleanliness. The tables are sticky, the floors are sticky, the chairs look dirty.. When the table legs are uneven they just stick a wad of napkins under the table so it won't rock. I won't be coming back to this location..

Went here today for lunch cause (to be honest) the In N Out in the same parking lot was extremely busy and we were hungry. Sure glad we came here though. The young woman who assisted us was very friendly, knowledgeable and seemed to be very happy working at the establishment. At lunch, my girlfriend said "She could work at Disneyland". To explain, the two of us have a VERY high regard for Disney and I'm trying to model my company's customer service after them. I didn't catch her name, but she was fantastic. The food was great too, but I was expecting that; what I wasn't expecting was her customer service. This came after a fairly terrible customer service experience with the guys at the Living Room in La Jolla...

My first time to a Pick Up Stix and I enjoyed the lunch combo I got which was the Firecracker chicken and fried rice that comes with two cream cheese wontons. The food was lighter than other fast(er) food Chinese places and the portion was perfect, not too much. The service was a bit slow but friendly. The location is tucked away behind the In N Out and Taco Bell, so may be easily overlooked. I would say it's better than Panda Express (although not as many choices) but not as good as City Dragon (North Park).

OVER PRICED DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE THIS IS NOT A NICE PLACE TO SPEND UR MONEY. The family next to us all got wAter cups because they could not afford it and filled them with sprite. It's sad that a fast food place charges so much and it's not real Chinese food.

Definitely not my favorite Asian food. My ex and I got a few dishes that we assumed you couldn't mess up (i.e. lettuce wraps). The meat was swimming in heavy sauce. It was not the best. We've never returned.

Don't eat there unless you want to pretend that you like Chinese and Thai food but really don't like spices after all. The quality of the meats and veggies is not the problem. The problem is that you are given a plate of what appears to be Thai or Chinese food but it doesn't taste like Thai or Chinese food because they omitted the spices which, in those cuisines, is the omission of a valuable ingredient. However, if you ate there and liked it, there is no reason not to return. Just refrain from recommending the place to devotees of Thai and Chinese cuisines. Barry Blyveis

I only come here for one menu item, the Firecracker Tofu, and I love that. But the 5-star part of this particular store is the customer service, for sure. EVERY time I go in there the workers are SO friendly and helpful, they really have a level of professionalism and customer service skill that makes this place memorable and distinct. You guys rock!

This is my second time at pick up stix! I can't believe u haven't been eating it lol. Anyways , I was craving Kung Pao chicken and slot if places were closed or about to close so I came here. I wished the Kung pao sauce was spicier but it was still good. I loved the zucchini and peanuts in this dish. I was surprised by the amount of food I got. By the look of the box i didn't think i would get alot of food but I did. I wished they gave more rice though. I like that they give you the options of brown or white rice. The cashier helping me was really friendly. I like that you get to take as many forks, got sauces, napkins etc as you please ... Within reason of course. If I had to pay $10 for small portions of Asian food plus a drink I think I'll just come here for a complete meal cause I can always drink water lol

Ive been here a few times so here's the review by item: Pad Thai: This was ok, a little too tangy and not very authentic. Wouldn't order again Kung Pao Shrimp: Good spice, but I'm not a huge enough peanut fan for this.... I know I know I shouldve ordered something else. But I would actually order this again just light on the nuts. Red Thai Noodles: This was pretty good, I had it with chicken. Won Ton Soup: This was funky and weird and nothing like what I wanted. The wontons were all stuck together and they didn't taste fresh. NO THANK YOU! Side note: The guy that's usually at the register isn't very nice. A couple visits ago he asked me how tall I am. WTF?!?! Am I in the 3rd grade? What the f*ck kind of crap is that? What a jerk! He ruined it for me at this location. And I also think the food isn't worth the price. I recommend another place down the road... rhymes with Pei Wei :)

I still like panda express better, because this place seems too similar to it. I only liked it because it was Wonton Wednesday $0.25 each! The place is also small! I came here with a groups of college friends, and there was six of us, and all the tables only fit FOUR and some of ladies were BIG girls, so it was hard to sit some of us..lol The food tasted bland to me too, like it had NO taste whatsoever. Never coming back to Pick Up Stix unless I come with friends, it's not my style.

Service here is extremely slow!! There was only 1 couple in front of me and it took almost 20 minutes for them to bring out my food. The food was just okay. I only ordered one dish and that was the Vegetable Feast which was under "Tofu Entree" on their menu. However, it did not have any tofu! It was nothing special and I will not be returning.

I used to live in San Diego, so I was looking forward to a walk down memory lane by going to Pick Up Stix. Not sure what happened, but the food quality has gone down. I ordered the House Special Chicken and it was kind of burned and bitter. Not what I was hoping for.

The setup: mid-afternoon lunch with a friend. and i had a coupon for Pick Up Stix. Food: we split an order of Dan Dan noodles with Shrimp, and a dinner-sized order of the House Special Chicken, with extra Veggies. White rice and two fortune cookies accompanied the meal. Drinks from the soda fountain (OMG, they have Fresca!!) We order, pay, sit, and soon our food arrives at our table, along with forks, plates and napkins. i'm always a little suspicious of asian places that don't have chopsticks as standard, but hey, it's quick serve for the non-asian clientele. Dan Dan noodles are good but the shrimp are so-so. cucumbers and sprouts are nice. yelp.com/biz_photos/JCmO… The house chicken is good - not overly sauced or breaded. having the pile of veggies helps. yelp.com/biz_photos/JCmO… Overall, this ended up being more than enough food for the two of us, but i finished off the last of the chicken, and mostly skipped dinner. The main issue of this place is parking. We had lunch at 2 in the afternoon, and both of us had trouble finding space. The lot here serves a few restaurants, and an office tower. We saw one guy park his truck up on the curb in a red zone so he and his girlfriend could get a meal. As the afternoon wore on, still no parking. They get plus points for having Fresca in the soda dispenser. Nice subtle modern decor that is a step up from most fast food type places. Friendly staff that will check on customers at table from time to time (not us, but the truck-parker and his girlfriend apparently needed the manager's attention a few times over the food not being what they expected). overall quality for food was good, since i had such an awesome coupon (bogo on entree). although my friend's fortune was one of those 'not really a fortune' but just telling you what to do.

This Pick Up Stix is great, food and service are always up to par but the highlight to this place has to be the location. With most of the hungry fast food zombies at In-N-Out, Taco Bell or Rubios it makes for a fine dining experience.

Always great food and always fast and friendly. We only go for take out and are always happy when we get home.

I used to love eating at Pick Up Stix until just recently. They used to put out great high value coupons, often BOGO free entree coupons. Hubby and I would be able to go all out for under $20, which was a great value. The food isn't super high quality, and honestly, but for a large feast, $20 is a good price. They haven't had any good coupons out for about a year now. So not really any great deals. And if we just get two entrees, two egg rolls, and two fountain drinks, we total up around $25+. That's rather pricey for the quality of food here. I'd rather spend $5 more and go to PF Chang's and get waiter service and a cleaner atmosphere along with higher quality food. If you do choose to eat here, I do enjoy their tofu and broccoli without carrots (why put carrots in there? Ew.) with the house sauce and brown rice. Their brown rice has a great flavor. Their white rice.. not so much. It's very bland, I guess you could say. Come here if you want to overpay for so-so Asian food. Honestly, if you just buy a wok, you could do better at home. They're cheap at Ikea, which is 5 minutes away from this Pick Up Stix location.

I can't eat much on the menu here, but when I am craving Chinese in a hurry, I know I can come here and be accommodated if i take the time to talk to the chef. I got a coupon in the mail for a free Wok combo, so I decided to NOT let it go to waste, and to scour the menu for anything that was not breaded and fried, or cooked up in a cup of soy sauce. Darn gluten, always getting in my way. I found a few possible options on the menu, walked in early around 11 so I had time to explain to the chef my needs without an angry/hungry mob behind me. He was SO nice. I'm glad I did that rather than trusting my phone order would arrive gluten free... because some of the entrees I chose had hidden ingredients I wouldn't have known about. The chef gave me his undivided attention and cooked me a perfectly safe meal using only frying oil and seasoning to make my fried rice and shrimp. I LOVE when people take the time to understand food allergies instead of acting inconvenienced... that means I will keep coming back when the craving strikes!

Oh, Pick Up Stix, I can't believe I never heard of you until like a few months ago (a fail on my part, yes...) but even though you are a Chinese-American chain, you are soooo good. Mmmm. And this is coming from a Chinese girl-- I know what good Chinese food tastes like... Everything on this Menu is good. Sooo good. Oooo orange chicken... And I love that I can get brown rice. Yummmy.

Normally I love Pick Up Stix...but admittedly at this particular location I find the food to be not up to normal standards. But we were close and stopped here instead of our usual location in La Jolla. Mistake! Tonight both the House Special Beef and Chicken were bland, and there wasn't much sauce in the bottom of the container to drizzle on to add more flavor. So I had to get the hot chili paste and spice it up. Not much else to say....like I said, normally this dish is my favorite at my home location. Tonight was a FAIL!

I always enjoy getting the shrimp with mixed vegetables (lunch combo) a few choices of rices, chow main, and either egg roll, dumplings or fried wontons! I always ask for steamed dumplings which are delish and asked to please exclude carrots from ANYTHING i get from a chinese restaurant. I don't think carrots or peas should ever be a "filler" to any kind of asian entre.

Waited 20+ minutes for our food. House chicken and Orange chicken, cmon, I know that stuff is made en masse. They acknowledged that they forgot our order and gave us free entree vouchers. That's why I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

For being a fast food chain their food is great. Love the Lemon Chicken, Orange Chicken are super tasty. The Chow Mein is tender, moist and full of flavor. The noodles are great. Ordering online and picking up is a breeze, there is a separate line for online pick-up that gets you in and out without waiting The following is on a 10 point scale. 1 being the poorest and 10 being the best! Food = 8 Service = 10 Location = 9 Parking = 9

I first want to say that I've never mistaken this place for a authentic Chinese eatery. The concept is just the same as Panda Express'. I guess that there are always going to be people who need to rant about something. Moving on to my review. I've really enjoyed eating at Pick Up Stix! There are times when you will have to wait for certain items but if you're looking for a place where you can get reasonably priced Chinese inspired fast food that is fresh and more flavorful than other places, this is the place to go to! There are kid friendly, they have high chairs here for the tots. You can even dine outside al fresco if you please on those days where there's a cool breeze. For an appetizer, I've really enjoyed the Crispy Dumplings. The Won Ton Soup is surprisingly good as well. I've had the House Special Chicken but prefer the Crispy Honey Chicken (Spicy). The Garlic Shrimp and House Chow Mein is where it's at for me. I have yet to try any of their dessert items. That'll be on my to do list for next time. You can always get your items "No MSG Added" for additional charge. I think that they should get rid of that additional charge altogether! They offer a Kids' Menu which is nice! Like Panda Express they offer combos and a Family Pack (it's called Panda Feast at PE). How it's different, for me.. #1 There's more selection and its cheaper than PE #2 They have Lunch Specials (until 3pm daily) #3 They have a Kid's Menu My only complaint is the additional charge for removing MSG and that there isn't one close enough to me here in AZ! :) *PE is short for Panda Express in case you haven't figured that out yet

I have been here several times and the food is ok... nothing to write home about. I have had several bad service experiences here but today stands out as the WORST! Waited in line for 15 minutes just to order my food which is annoying. When I went to the soda machine to get my drink there was a terrible rotten smell. The counter tops were covered in dried on sticky soda. NASTY!! Then as I reach into the slot to get a lid, the slot was filled with soda. WTH? What else? Garbage cans overflowing, trash on the floors and sticky counters when I picked up my food. Needless to say, I don't think I will go there again.

I've been eating at Pick Up Stix for about 10 years now, both Hillcrest and this Mission Valley location. Orders the Mongolian Beef, which should be renamed "Mongolian Onions with Possibly a Scant Amount of Beef". The container was I kid you not over 3/4 undercooked white onions, and barely any beef. The picture on the menu showed beef, with some white and green onions, there were NO green onions at all, not that this needed amy more onions at all. Also ordered wontons, which if I'm ordering dine in should NOT be put in a bag, that makes them turn SOGGY. Overall I think Pick Up Stix is a little over priced for the quantity and quality of the food. The are all overly sugary in taste. The quality and quantity of their food has definitely changed over the years.

Why does this chain keep expanding like people's waistlines after eating here? It's fake Chinese food woked up for you within five minutes of ordering. It's not so much a take out Chinese place that's run by Chinese people except Pick Up Stix is operated by Mexicans (much love to Mexicans who have contributed immensely to our economy and country) who can make fake Chinese food. I had the chow mein with chicken (one of the few menu items that isn't fried). Yea... spaghetti noodles, drenched in an overpowering sauce with some vegetables. Not that great, not that bad. It's probably the best thing on the menu. Oh, you can order brown rice if you want, which is a big plus if you're staying healthy while eating here. One thing I found annoying was the constant loud chatter by the employees. They're constantly yelling about food, the orders, their friends, their work schedules. Random stuff. Please! Quiet down! I don't mind people TALKING but not YELLING.

Service was fast and friendly, but the food is terrible. I think Panda Express has better quality food which is pretty sad. I feel like 5 years ago the food was better and buying less quality food now maybe in order to create a larger profit margin. Out of the 4 things I ordered non of them were appetizing. I'll never pay for pick up stix again.

Not great, not too bad. I love the new 1.00 menu - the soup is good. The Pad Thai is not so good, but the lemon chicken is OK. I LOVE the cream cheese wontons. they are my favorite. It is a bit pricey, but I never go without a coupon or unless there is a special. Last night 3 of us ate a huge meal for around 20.00 - thanks to a few coupons I picked up on their website.

Pick Up Stix isn't the best asian food, definitely inauthentic but feels a hell of a lot better afterwards than panda express. Love the house specialty and can't seem to enjoy much else on the menu. Definitely not a bad place to grab a quick lunch and don't know much else that's better for the price. I would recommend Pei Wei over this place but its still some decent "asian" food.

Food is always good but my order for one particular visit to this location was overly saucy. My entree was drenched in sauce, thus making my wontons soggy. Boo. All good, I'll still come here for me ol' pick up stix cravings.

Great Chinese fast food here. I think what makes them unique among Chinese fast food is the lack of heat lamps! All the food is cooked to order and tastes pretty good. Vegetarian Rating: 5/5 All entrees can have meat substituted with tofu.

Food used to be good until they got bought out by some east coast schmuck. Now, they replaced all the managers with people who don't seem to know what's up, cheapened the food and products, reduced the amount they give, and the cooks seem to be using different recipes. House special beef was not the normal house special taste at all. I ordered the full dinner size, and it came on the lunch plate with a lid because the "cook got confused" - definitely was not a full sized rice portion - I couldn't tell if the entree was right - seemed fairly small for a dinner portion. They need to do business the way they did when they started: good food with good customer service and knowledgeable, friendly staff. Unless there is nothing else - I've given the new owner enough tries.

HELLLLOO PEOPLE! To those who said "fake Chinese" food: Do you see a sign that says "Authentic Chinese Cuisine?" Um...NO! FRESH ASIAN KITCHEN AND/OR FLAVORS...which means it doesn't have to be your typical or traditional food. ANYWAYS!!! I've never really had a bad experience at this location, or any other one. I love the food here, especially the cream cheese wontons and their honey chicken when they have it. unfortunately, it's for a limited time. and that's when you'll catch me ordering their on my way to work or home. I've always had fast service with a friendly smile, and they have a great kids meal. I'd rather have my kid eat this fast food meal than the usual burger and fries.

BLECH!!! there is nothing here i have ever enjoyed. Why is spaghetti pasta used as chow mein noodles ? Too thick & lacks flavor. My friend got very ill from the fried cream cheese won tons, he had the shits all day ! Service is not too great either. Stick w/ Panda Express---they got it right.

The few times i have made my way to pick up stix i have always been disappointed. It seems to be immitation chinese food that just isn't as good as, well, real chinese food. Take the chow mein for example. Why are they using speghetti noodles in there? I could go on but let me just keep it short and say for good cheep fast chinese, go to the panda.

Okay food if you are in a hurry and looking for Chinese food! I probably ordered the most fattening and unhealthy thing on the menu...the Orange Chicken! Deep fried chicken in spicy orange sauce....not really what I was hopping for. I would eat here again just look for a healthier alternative and maybe try for lunchtime when they offer lunch specials.

Not really authentic Chinese but a very good Americanized version (at least for my taste buds). Service at this location is always very good and the quality has never disappointed me. Great place for takeout after a day of shopping at Mission/Fashion Valley. I'll even stop on my way home from Vegas so I don't have to wash dishes when I get home.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
